Kutna Hora

Today was a great day! Last night's bed time was 1am so brkfast today was at 9am. Then on a cold & rainy day a 60 min walk to the train station and 75 mins later we were in Kutna Hora! This is UNESCO World Heritage site based on 7 or 8 well preserve middle Age churches & schools. In addition the town sat on a silver mine so it was very wealthy back in the day.

Of course the bus from the station went who knows where and the driver refused to play tourist guide. We got off with other tourist looky loos at the wrong stop. A mile walk took us to the Church of St. Barbara - a beautiful and well preserved Gothic style wigh an interior of Baroque & Rennaissance murals and stuff.
After that a long wet walk thru the old town. Lattes & cappucinos at a Italian caffeine then another walk to the Ossarary and Catherdral. These is where the Cisterians order of monks originated in 1400s. The Ossuary - the bones of some 40000 people used to decorate a large place. The idea is dust to dust and all that stuff. Actually rather amazing!
As you can guess another wet walk and a bit of a wait and we are on the train to Prague.
One good thing we did was buy a supply of cheeses, prosciutto, bread, & chocolate so we well fortified!
More later!
