Lamb and wine...

When last we blogged we were in Split heading out for a olive oil, wine , and honey tour. After a ferry ride of 45 minutes to the island of Solta. Frane (pronounced franny) the olive oil guy, picked us up & drove us to his olive grove. Under the shelter of an olive tree, Frane gave us the history of his olive trees; then off to the where his olives are pressed. The olives have been in the family for years. Some of the trees are over 1000 years old. Frame is on his 40's and gave up the corporate life to produce high quality, organic olive oil and help his country.
More info then we tasted & ate the most wonderful lunch & wine. The food was prepared by his mother using foods from the island. Bruschetta 2 kinds, one with rosemary infused olive oil, on shrimp & butter lettuce, the other with lemon infused olive oil on octopus & arugula. Rosemary grows wild and has a milder flavor that what we use. Roasted potato with garlic infused olive oil. The seafood risotto. I forgot to take pics, the food & wine was too tempting!
The wine was wonderful. Best the winers on the trip have had. Made as a hobby by a friend of Franne's.
We then headed off with the honey guy, Goren and his Russian wife, Natashsha. Like Franne his family had been on the island for generations. His label is a picture of him about 8 with Dad & Grandpa and a bee hive. Very passionate about bees but also doing someting for the people of his Country!
Now back in Split where we had Jagnjece -
