Plum Brandy

GeoTagged, [N50.08214, W14.40618]

What Grappa is to an Italian this is to a Czech! Restaurent full of English & Czech actors from the Fringe Festival. Made a lively place - lots of fun! So tomorrow we Fringe. The food continues to be excellent - pork w/ Plum sauce and Caramel apple.

The Velvet Revolution!

300,000 Czechs protested (peacefully)nightly for over 6 weeks until the communists gave up power. This is the long street or square where they assembled! Power to the people!

Food on the plate!

A small snack after 8 hrs of touristing! Cheeses, olives, bread.

8 hours walking Prague

So how much can you see in 8 hrs - lots but not nearly all!!! 1st it's worth remembering that the Czechs were freed from Communist rule by the Velvet Revolution in 1989 - only 21 years ago. So many of the people we walked among were the pro freedom demonstrators if a few years ago! To us this was amazing!!! The buildings are for the most part art nouveau. I think from about 1900 but I am not sure. In any case magnificent. It's a city ful of people walking. Dressed well, very litle obesity, tending young. hip and on the go!!!
Plenty of places to drink beer, all food eaten so far has been excellent. O no, after only a hour respite we are going out again. Dinner about 9 then maybe some of the famous Prague night life.

Buffe enjoys the plane!

Fly, arrive, and Prague!

Ok typing on iPhone so may be short! Ace & Buffe arrived with no problem. David & Becky another story. Flight from Denver was cancelled so rebooked on Luftansa leaving 5 hrs later.
Prague is quite beautiful. The buildings are of a style from back back back in the day! Went to the Black Ox for beers. The 2 servers tried their best to dissuade the tourists from feeling welcome but we perservered. Sat bent to a drunk who's English was limited to'twist em' right, thist em' left, do the shimmy shimmy shake!" 8 pints of great beer for $8. Dinner roast beef covered w/ plum sauce & whipped cream. You could cutin w/ a fork and it was delish. Today the Castle, walking tour by Ace, and beer !!

This trip was inspired by our Granmother Edith Zini Evans. Her parents were from Budapest and Tivat. Thus we journey! This Blog is inspired by the Blog ( elnomad.com/tolatitude000.php ) of my friends Rebecca & Arturo and so I will Blog my way throught the Balkens. As of today its 7 days until we leave for Prague - our starting point. Our advance scounts, Patty and Tony LeDonne, have been sending tips on bars, pubs, and wine bars so we are prepared!
